Would my child have to share a tutor with other children?
No, here at JPE we offer both one-on-one sessions as well as group tuition. For some pupils learning in a group situation is less effective than one-on-one tuition, so we offer both solutions.
My child lacks confidence in the classroom. Is it possible for you to build his confidence?
Tuition at JPE will nurture him and his confidence levels. Our tailor made tuition approaches will see the least confident pupil succeed and become more confident in his own classroom environment.
How can you help motivate my child to study hard and do well in his exams?
JPE tutors can turn the least motivated students into knowledge-hungry individuals. A great deal of nurturing and encouragement is required to overcome their learning barriers and create curiosity to develop their thirst for knowledge. Our experienced tutors all have their own strategies to motivate pupils based on the relationship that is formed between them.
What rate of success do you have at Joanna Pinewood?
We have a pass rate in excess of 95%. We have seen 100% of our pupils improve by two grades or more. Success does depend on the commitment of both the student and the parents.
How do you deal with difficult or shy children?
Children that are shy, disruptive or have other issues such as emotional troubles are best tutored in a one-on-one session where the tutor’s full attention can be focused on the pupil in question. By creating a fun, safe and friendly learning environment, children are able to overcome their issues.
My child refuses to do his homework. What can you do to ensure it gets done?
Pupils that are introduced to JPE tuition are much more focused and dedicated than other pupils. By making learning fun and enjoyable, pupils are much more likely to want to do their homework. Clear boundaries are set from the start and pupils are made very aware of what their tutors will be expecting of them over the coming sessions.
Do you tutor students that have been excluded from their previous school?
Yes we can teach students that have been excluded from other educational establishments. Each case is assessed on individual merits and without bias.
Do you tutor at the student’s home?
We only tutor at our tuition centres. There are a variety of reasons for this. Pupils are less easily distracted than in their home surroundings; a classroom situation focuses the mind on the task in hand and our tuition centres provide a more disciplined environment for learning.
I’ve had a bad experience with another tutor. How do you ensure that pupils are tutored in a safe environment?
All JPE tutors are carefully screened using the Police’s National Identification Service for prosecutions and convictions. Tutors have experience and training in health and safety and how to control a multitude of situations. Again, attending our tuition centre provides a safer environment.
How do you cope with pupils whose first language is not English?
Pupils with English as their second language excel at JPE. All of our tutors offer incredibly successful one-on-one tuition where pupils are the focus of all attention. This helps overcome any language difficulties at the same time as improving grades at school.
What are your tutoring times?
We tutor from 12.00 until 21.00 during the week and from 09.00 until 20.00 during the weekends and school holidays.
